This week, the Future Makers summer camp has given a group of Glasgow young people the chance to experiment with technologies they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to play with. From building for the web to gaming and wearable technologies, even children who had programmed before had something to learn.

On Tuesday, the Future Makers built and programmed their own games consoles from a DIY kit. The developers of the kit ‘Technology Will Save Us’ co-ran the workshop giving an insight into the hardware behind the code.

In just one day each child had soldered together their own console and programmed it to create a simple game. They can continue to build their own games when they take the console home or follow online guides to build classic games like Snake, Pong or the more recent Flappy Bird.
