Our societies are energy-intensive and wasteful to the point of undermining future generations’ ability to meet their own needs. It is time for new solutions.
Can we balance present and future needs?
Energy efficiency is certainly a starting point but is it the only answer? We waste half the energy we produce: how can we shift the culture toward efficiency and consuming less? Can we lower the upfront cost of innovation and investment?
The conversation needs to include everyone from large businesses to citizens living in fuel poverty.
In March 2014, the event brought together a diverse mix of people from a range of backgrounds to explore how technology and open data could improve life in Glasgow in the future. The teams competed for a £20,000 prize fund (T&Cs apply).
